Mizuko memorial service

Purpose of Mizuko Memorial Service

The purpose of Mizuko memorial services at Shokoji Temple is introspection and nembutsu. In the face of circumstances that go against the intention of a Mizuko memorial service, you calm your mind, introspect yourself, and reaffirm "what you should value" and "the true nature of things." Using this introspection as a foundation, Shokoji Mizuko memorial services aim to help you live your life in a positive way. We chant nembutsu so that when you have lived your life to the fullest, you will be welcomed into the Pure Land where the Mizuko and all your loved ones await.

During Mizuko memorial services, there is no end to the number of people who pour out their honest feelings. This is probably because they instinctively and intuitively understand that the temple, and ultimately the Buddha, are the only ones who will accept them.

Such confession of feelings, introspection, and chanting of the Nembutsu bring stability to the mind and stability of thought.

Unfortunately, the world is not as we would like it to be, and we humans who live in it are imperfect. On top of that, we are busy every day. Even if we try to stabilize our mind and thoughts by introspecting and chanting the Nembutsu, after a while our minds start to waver again.

When that happens, just come and visit again.

If you catch a cold, you go to the doctor. If your hair is getting long, you go to the hairdresser. If you're hungry, you eat.
If you are unable to find stability in your mind or thoughts, you can come to the temple for introspection and chanting the Nembutsu.

Please feel free to contact us anytime. Shokoji Temple is a temple that will support you in your future.
