It has been said since ancient times that dolls have souls. I don't know if they really do. However, if dolls do have souls, I think it is not the "doll's" soul, but the heart (memories) of the person who cherishes them.
A doll contains the heart of a child who was involved with it through good times and bad. A doll that is left at home when the person becomes an adult can bring back many memories and emotions from those times. Now that the person has grown up and used the doll as a source of comfort, the doll has outlived its usefulness and is memorialized. A doll memorial service does not memorialize the "doll." It memorializes one's own heart that resides in the doll. Through a doll memorial service, one can face one's past self, reflect on one's self, and improve the quality of one's life from now on. Improving the quality of one's life means living each day peacefully. As a declaration of this determination, one chants the Nembutsu.
This is the doll memorial service at Shokoji Temple.
There may be many circumstances that make it impossible to be present at the memorial service, but we recommend that you are present at the doll memorial service whenever possible.

Please apply by phone, email, or through our application form.
Dolls you wish to commemorate can be brought in or mailed to us.
If you can be present on the day, we will reschedule.
The donation varies depending on the number and size of the dolls, so please contact us for more information. (Please expect it to be around 5,000 to 30,000 yen.)

❷On the day
Please come to the temple office building on time.
After your interview with the chief priest, you will be asked to wait in the waiting room until preparations are completed.
When we are ready, we will call you and you will be asked to come into the main hall.
The ceremony will take about 20 minutes. Please consider the total time to be about 30 minutes.

Please come and visit any time after the ceremony. You can visit from 8am to 4pm.
