Report on the April Sutra Calligraphy Event

One of the charms of Japan is that we can feel the change of seasons even in just one month. Of all the seasons, many people feel that spring is the most exciting.

One of the things that gives you this feeling is the colorful flowers. There are countless flowers, including plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, peonies, wintersweets, magnolias, and more. Today, too, people with cameras were pointing their lenses at the flowers at the temple, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beautifully blooming flowers.

While being distracted by such scenes, the people who will participate in today's introspective copying of sutras gradually gather. Perhaps encouraged by the warm weather, 19 participants gathered for the 12-person capacity. The staff members who added seats moved lightly.

It would be a shame if we were unable to provide seats for those who made the effort to come. The head priest announced that from next month, reservations will be required in principle. Everyone who participated today has already applied to participate next month. For those of us who lead busy, troubled lives every day, it seems that the participants understand very well how important this kind of time for reflection is.

The sutra copying session ended successfully with a final chant of the Nembutsu, so that all participants could spend their days in peace until next month.

If you wish to participate in the sutra copying session, please apply in advance by phone or email. If you come on the day without a reservation, we may not be able to provide you with a seat.
