[Itabashi Station Garden] Preparations for the Obon Festival

Hello, this is Itabashi Ekimae Garden 🌻

Today, we'll be introducing how children and caregivers are preparing for the Obon Festival.

We talked with the children about the origins of Obon and what we do during it. We also wiped down the body of Nono-sama, who always watches over us at the entrance.

The children were happy to see Nono, who is always far away, right in front of them, but they also seemed a little nervous as they gently wiped her body, saying, "Be gentle."

We also decorated the "Shōrei-ma" (spirit horse) together. It was an opportunity for the children to experience Japanese traditions and to feel grateful and thankful for always watching over us.☺️The children love the song "Nono-sama," so they were very enthusiastic about singing the song, cleaning up Nono-sama, and offering flowers.💐

In preparation for the festival, the children also practiced setting up a shaved ice stand and breaking watermelons, and were excitedly waiting for the big day.
