All of Shokoji's events are held to encourage people to face the Buddha and our ancestors, reflect on themselves, and live their lives peacefully from now on. Based on this reflection, we chant the Nembutsu so that we can live each day to the fullest and be welcomed into the Pure Land at the end. All of our events are held in accordance with this sequence.
It was a fine day, but the wind was blowing rather strongly. This made the cold even more intense. The people who came to pray had their shoulders hunched. They were probably hesitant to even leave their homes. However, the fact that they decided to come to pray was surely the first step towards having a vibrant day.
It is very important for us to take a step forward in everything we do. This is because it gives us the motivation to continue living our lives to the fullest. It gives us the strength to carve out a path to a brighter tomorrow.
We all calmly chanted the Nembutsu together at the end.
