Shuriru was held on June 26th from 10am to 11am.

First of all, as always, we all cleaned the temple grounds.

Let's move to the main hall and do some easy brain training!

It was led by local people.

"Raise the hand opposite the one you're told to do," "Play rock-paper-scissors with both hands and match the rhythm so that the right hand always wins," etc. I said it was easy, but both the students and I were completely confused!

The local people were able to do it better than we did, so the event proceeded in a cheerful atmosphere.

Next, we played a "Drawing Message Game."
The event will be planned and led by students from Toyo University.

The first person looks at a given picture, draws it in 20 seconds and shows it to the next person, who then has 10 seconds to memorize it, then draws it again in 20 seconds and shows it to the next person, and so on. Six people do this.
As long as the last person has the right picture, it's OK, so everyone is putting their all into it!!

Although there were a few suspicious moments, the students actively interacted with the local people and the exchange was enjoyable.

Finally, we played a drawing game of relaying messages using the Buddhist teaching materials that Shuriru's organizer, Hamada, is currently developing.

Participants choose a card with a Buddhist phrase written on it, and then draw it to convey their message.

The first person chose "lion"! Let's draw a picture of a lion.

Along the way, it takes on the shape of the sun and ends with the face of Kannon.

There was a lot of excitement, with people saying things like "It's completely different."

In Buddhism, there is a word called "lion's roar." When a lion roars loudly, all the animals are frightened by the sound and become submissive. Similarly, when the Buddha preaches, all the people who hear his teachings follow his teachings, so the Buddha's teachings are called "lion's roar."

Finally, we ended the event with a talk about Buddhism.
