Information about the Shokoji Temple Spring Equinox Festival

This is the Public Relations Office of Shokoji Temple. As the spring equinox approaches, the sunlight becomes soft and warm, and new buds appear in the temple grounds, giving us a sense of the breath of life. The sun rises earlier and earlier, and the joy of starting the day in the clear morning air is exceptional.

In particular, on the middle day of the equinox, the sun rises due east and sets due west, creating a beautiful sight, providing a good opportunity to be aware of the Western Pure Land. It is a perfect day to chant the Nembutsu while engaging in introspection.

At Shokoji Temple, we hold the Higan Festival to express our gratitude for the environment for introspection and the opportunity to chant the Nembutsu, which are provided by this tradition, as well as the blessings of nature. We hope that this time of introspection will provide a spiritually enriching experience for everyone, as we remember Buddha and our deceased loved ones and hold memorial services for stupas.
If you would like to participate or hold a memorial service for a stupa, please apply by email, telephone, or using the designated application method listed in the temple newsletter, or by filling out the dedicated online application form.
We do not accept individual applications for the memorial service, but we welcome participation from the general public. Please feel free to join us.

All of our staff are looking forward to meeting you. We hope you will enjoy a moment of peace and new hope amid the spring light and fresh greenery.
