Hello everyone. This is the Shokoji Temple Public Relations Office. We were blessed with unseasonably warm weather today, and held a sutra copying event under clear skies. A total of 12 people participated, including those who showed up without a reservation. All the participants fully understood the purpose of Shokoji Temple's sutra copying event, which aims for "introspection and chanting the Nembutsu," and they began and ended the event by chanting the Nembutsu with a firm heart as they worked on copying the sutra.
Theme of the lecture: "We must spare no effort to communicate precisely because it is difficult to communicate"
After the copying of the sutra, we will hold our monthly sermon. We are essentially "ordinary people" who find it difficult to understand things correctly. Even so, we try to understand, and live our lives to the fullest, repeating the joy of being able to understand others and the pain of not being able to understand others. That is why we should not give up on our efforts to communicate important things just because they are not being conveyed. That is the message we shared with everyone.
This month, we aim to make an effort to understand and to communicate, and we have written "Furitsu Issai" in the prayers we copy, and we recite the Nembutsu while quietly deepening our introspection. "Furitsu Issai" implies that "everything is imperfect in expressing the truth," and it shows the world as it never goes as we want it to and the state of ordinary people like us.

1. Relaxed atmosphere
By copying sutras in the silence of the main hall, you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy a special time to reflect on yourself.
2. Prepare your mind with nembutsu
As a nembutsu dojo, Shokoji Temple places nembutsu at the forefront of practical Buddhism. Even during the sutra copying session, we chant nembutsu at the beginning and end, which allows us to reset our minds and increase our concentration.
3. Reaffirming the Essence in Sermons
Each month we have a different theme for self-reflection and new realizations. Through copying sutras and sermons, we will reaffirm the important things that will be the foundation for living a peaceful and rich life in the future.
4. Beginners are welcome
The charm of the Shokoji Sutra Shakai is the friendly and gentle atmosphere that makes it easy for new participants to feel at ease.
