[Itabashi Station Nursery] In-school training ~ Positive interactions ~

Hello, this is Shokoji Nursery School in front of Itabashi Station.
This time, we will report on the in-house training.

As of now, we are continuing the in-school training "Childcaregiver Interaction" that we have been working on since our previous post, and I would like to introduce the "Positive Interaction" training that made the biggest impression on me.

Through positive interactions with caregivers, children develop the ability to value themselves and trust others.

The key to having a positive relationship is to focus on the positive aspects of the other person.

The childcare workers actually formed groups and shared their good points with each other, and looked at the good points of the children in each class and thought about what specific good points they had.
In addition, we thought about how to change negative words into positive ones, imagined situations that might arise in the nursery school, and thought about what kind of words we could use to interact with the children in a positive way.

Through the training, I learned that people naturally tend to focus on others' shortcomings and what they cannot do, and that it is quite difficult to focus on what they can do and their strengths.
I also realized once again that everyone feels more comfortable in an environment where they can celebrate what they have accomplished, use positive words, and acknowledge each other as individuals, rather than an environment where negative words, warnings, and forbidden words are flying around.
When interacting with people, instead of trying to change them, we aim to change our own thoughts and words to positive ones, and create a nursery school where both children and adults can spend their time happily and with smiles on their faces.
