We have been undergoing repair work on the Sanmon gate of Shokoji Temple, and we are pleased to report that the work was completed yesterday (August 1st).
Now, this gate that we call "Sanmon" is the main gate of the temple. It is a very important gate that stands on the boundary between the secular world and the Buddhist world.
This repair work was done with the skill and dedication of the craftsmen, and has improved the durability and safety of the gate. Thank you for working hard every day in the heat.
We would also like to thank our neighbors for their understanding and cooperation with the construction work.
It is now possible to walk through the temple grounds, so we hope you will stop by when you are visiting the temple or taking a walk in the area.
*Please note that the South Gate, which was open temporarily, will be closed.
