We would like to report that we have held the Segaki ceremony for 2023.
This was the first Segaki ceremony in which everyone gathered together since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Although it was a scorching hot day with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, nearly 60 parishioners gathered for the ceremony. (Thank you for coming in spite of the heat.)

As we mentioned in our previous announcement, the Segaki-e ceremony is a ceremony to offer food to the suffering sentient beings in the hungry ghost realm. (Lots of offerings are made on the hungry ghost altar, and a Segaki banner is erected on the central Jobon.)

Before the service, a sermon was given by Reverend Gunshima Shoji, the head priest of Futatsugiyama Jyogyoin Temple in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture.

After the sermon, three monks recited sutras and offered prayers and dedications to each of the stupas that had been requested.
After the service, everyone brought their stupas to their graves in the temple grounds and Joen.

It looks like the hot weather will continue from now on. Everyone, please take care of yourselves.
