On Friday, July 17th, Shokoji Nursery School Akabane Iwabuchi Branch held an Obon festival with the participation of four two-year-olds and five one-year-olds.
As the teachers began to decorate the lanterns, the children seemed excited, saying "It's a festival" and pointing at the lanterns.
On the day, everyone will first gather in a circle and the teacher will tell the children a story about Obon.
The children listened while imitating the teacher's facial expressions and gestures and repeating what the teacher said.

Then the Bon dance "Ponchararin on a Moonlit Night", which we practiced every morning, began!
They danced enthusiastically together with their teachers and friends.
Next up is yo-yo fishing!
Two-year-olds tried their hand at fishing with a fishing rod with the support of their teachers!
The one-year-olds picked out their favorite colors and patterns with their hands.

And at the end, we gave the children a paw print penguin bag that they made with the teachers!!
He seemed to like it as he put it over his shoulder and showed it to his friends, and put the yo-yos he caught in it.
The fun time flew by, and it was an Obon festival filled with smiles.
