The October sutra copying session was successfully completed.
Last time, we explained the significance of chanting the Nembutsu in conjunction with the sutra copying session, and then we approached the sutra copying session with a calm mind.
This time, I talked about the necessity of continuing copying sutras in relation to our existence.
It is extremely difficult for us to live like saints. In Buddhism, we are called "ordinary people."
Even if we can reflect on ourselves through copying sutras and attain the state of mind necessary to live a rich life both physically and mentally, as time passes, we will be engulfed in the hustle and bustle of daily life, become agitated, and become seized by negative emotions such as jealousy and envy. This is inevitable given the state of affairs of ordinary people like us.
Therefore, in order to at least improve one's state of mind, it is important to engage in regular activities that calm the mind, such as copying sutras, starting with chanting the Nembutsu.
I think we understand this from experience, without it being explained from a Buddhist perspective. However, even if we understand it intellectually, it is difficult to make the effort to realize it. From this point of view, we are reminded that we are truly ordinary people.

It's difficult to keep everything going, but we hope you'll join us again next time, even if just after your walk.
Next time, I hope to talk about introspection.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
