On Friday, July 17th, Shokoji Nursery School Akabane Iwabuchi Branch held an Obon festival with the participation of four two-year-olds and five one-year-olds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the teachers began to decorate the lanterns, the children seemed excited, saying "It's a festival" and pointing at the lanterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the day, everyone will first gather in a circle and the teacher will tell the children a story about Obon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children listened while imitating the teacher's facial expressions and gestures and repeating what the teacher said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the Bon dance "Ponchararin on a Moonlit Night", which we practiced every morning, began!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They danced enthusiastically together with their teachers and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up is yo-yo fishing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two-year-olds tried their hand at fishing with a fishing rod with the support of their teachers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one-year-olds picked out their favorite colors and patterns with their hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And at the end, we gave the children a paw print penguin bag that they made with the teachers!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He seemed to like it as he put it over his shoulder and showed it to his friends, and put the yo-yos he caught in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fun time flew by, and it was an Obon festival filled with smiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
